
This presentation will teach you the basics of researching Indigenous ancestors in Quebec. Some common problems will
be discussed along with tips for how to deal with these issues. A case study of a Quebec Indigenous family will be used to
illustrate these methods.
Biography: Jenna Lemay has been involved in genealogical research for over 10 years and has been working in the Archives and
Public History sector for almost as long. Working in the archives of a former Residential School and living on traditional
Anishinaabe territory in Northern Ontario, she specializes in First Nations and Métis ancestry research. Jenna has worked
with many clients to help them understand whether they have Indigenous ancestry and whether they are eligible for
Indigenous status under the Canadian Federal government.
