Lors de cette présentation, nous jetterons un coup d’œil aux ressources de Bibliothèque et Archives Canada à la disposition
des généalogistes sur la trace de leurs ancêtres. En plus des pages Web dédiées à la généalogie et histoire familiale, ces
outils comprennent des publications (histoires de familles, répertoires de mariages), des documents d’archives (recensements,
listes de passagers, dossiers militaires) et des bases de données. Nous terminerons par un bref aperçu des projets à venir.

Biographie : Marie-Eve Robert est conseillère en généalogie à Bibliothèque et Archives Canada depuis 2022. Elle a un grand intérêt en
histoire et généalogie et c’est joint à l’unité de généalogie de BAC après plusieurs années d’expérience en service à la
clientèle au sein du Gouvernement fédéral.

co-hosts the Family History AI Show podcast with Steve Little.

genealogical research.

Biography:
Holly, a Québec Genealogical eSociety member, is Vice-Chair, APGCAN (Association of Professional Genealogists Canada Chapter),
Charter Genealogist at AncestreeDetectives, genealogist at Sir Guy Carleton Branch (Ottawa) and Heritage Branch (Montreal) of
UELAC. Her genealogy website is https://familyfootprints.ca/ Holly’s goal is to be a Lifelong learner and use her skills to help others.
She successfully completed the Genealogical Research Certificate from Boston University in May 2020. She is a member of several
genealogy societies and organizations to keep up with advances in the genealogical field. Holly graduated from the Diploma program
in Public Relations Management at McGill University in 2013. Her B.A. Double Major, Journalism/Political Science, Concordia University
is from the Stone Age. Holly is retired from a 37yr+ career in Broadcast Media.

La plateforme Transcrire la Nouvelle-France, dont le lancement est prévu pour cet automne, donnera accès à
toutes les transcriptions produites dans le cadre du projet Nouvelle-France numérique.

La plateforme de reconnaissance de l'écriture manuscrite Transkribus sera présentée, ainsi que le « résultat »
qui sera déjà téléchargé sur la plateforme Transcrire la Nouvelle-France (TNF), et ses utilisations possibles.

Biographie : Maxime Gohier est professeur d’histoire à l’Université du Québec à Rimouski. Spécialiste des Autochtones
sous les régimes français et britannique, il s’intéresse essentiellement à l’histoire politique des communautés amérindiennes et à
leurs relations avec l’État. Il est notamment l’auteur d’Onontio le médiateur : la gestion des conflits amérindiens en
Nouvelle-France (1603-1717) (Septentrion, 2008) et d’une thèse de doctorat sur la pratique pétitionnaire des Autochtones de la
vallée du Saint-Laurent. Son intérêt particulier pour le patrimoine lettré autochtone et pour la paléographie l’a amené à mettre sur
pied, avec sa collègue Catherine Broué (UQAR), le projet « Nouvelle-France numérique ».

How to find historic places and buildings associated with our Quebec ancestors

Join Melanie McLennan, the daughter of a Land Surveyor and the wife of a cartographer, on how to:

- Identify the property you are interested in as it would appear in the records.
- Build out the story of those who have lived there in the past and present, including how the property itself might change
over time (address, appearance, damage).
- Look for resources that would add information about the property.

Biography: Melanie is Canadian born, with Irish citizenship. Researching her own family’s heritage of Scots-Irish,
Scottish, Irish, English, French Canadian and northern European ancestry led her into pursuing formal education and a
career as a genealogist. To compliment her education with the National Institute of Genealogical Studies in Irish and
Canadian records, Melanie attended the Ulster History and Genealogical Summer School (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,
and 2016) in Belfast (co-sponsored by the Ulster Historical Society and the University of Ulster, History Dept.).

She has devoted many additional hours of research practice at many archives and repositories in Dublin, Belfast, and
counties Fermanagh, Antrim and Armagh focusing on private research in national, civil and parish records, newspapers,
land and estate records to gain valuable knowledge through hands on experience. Melanie’s keen interest has expanded
into the study of Scottish and English records and the use of DNA analysis in researching family history.

Melanie has been working as a genealogical researcher and presenter for 13 years with her company Ancestral Tapestry.
Specializing in Irish, United Kingdom and Canadian records, she is available to work for her clients sharing with them her
knowledge, methodology and analysis skills, her research library and her enthusiasm for family history research.
